Located in Central America, between Nicaragua and Panama. Bordered to the northeast by the Atlantic Ocean (Caribbean Sea) and to the southwest by the Pacific Ocean. Capital San José (population: 1 million)

Climate
Costa Rica has a wonderful climate with temperatures of 78 degrees Farenheit (24 degrees Celsius) on the Atlantic coast. Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast is lined with beaches of dazzling beauty, offering luxurious resorts set back for complete privacy, some of which are accessible within two hours of San José.
Enjoy the 570 hectares (1,400 acres) of rock reefs teeming with colorful fish and travel through the jungle via a 130 km (80 miles) canal system. Access to nature is close at hand with its 29 national parks covering an area of 525,000 hectares (1.3 million acres) or 10.3% of the country. The rainy season is from May to October and the hottest months are March and April
Environnement
With its wide variety of natural treasures, Costa Rica is considered an ecological sanctuary. The forest covers 78% of its territory. Currently, 80 areas are protected (approximately 25% of the entire territory): 20 national parks, 9 waterfowl refuges, 13 biological reserves, 12 forest reserves, 1 national monument as well as 25 protected areas
